Our second stop in the country of beauty was in Los Llanos Orientales, where the nature and the warm weather gave us an unforgettable experience. We arrived in Yopal, but we went even deeper into the plains, where a natural reserve that protects the fauna and flora of the territory awaited us.

The natural beauty of Los Llanos:
The first thing that you see in Los Llanos Orientales are the hectares of forest, rivers, vegetation, and wildlife. That’s why we needed a guided walk through the ecological trail of the nature reserve. There we were able to see many species of animals such as turtles, babillas, deer, chigüiros, cows, iguanas, anteaters, and countless birds. The tour was magical, especially because we ended the day with one of those famous sunsets of Los Llanos Orientales in the middle of nature, and what they say is true, there is no other like it in the world.
The beauty and gastronomic richness
It is true that Colombia’s biodiversity can be appreciated in the landscapes, but it can also be enjoyed in the food. There is such a variety of foods that, regardless of the territory, we will always marvel at a new dish. In Los Llanos Orientales it was the turn of the Carne a la Llanera, seasoned with spices and flavors of the land, but also baskets of plantain with shredded chicken. Don’t worry, vegetarian and vegan food lovers can also try dishes of Los Llanos with other foods such as mushrooms or cooked vegetables.
The cultural beauty
We cannot talk about Los Llanos Orientales without mentioning the warmth of its people, who were with us all the time with myths and legends of the area, surprised us with a private concert of traditional music, and even taught us how to dance joropo.
